I went to get the last few loads of hay from my field yesterday and found that the hogs have been back in force. 2 years ago I all but destroyed a hay rake and had to replace a ton of mower knives before I disked and smoothed down their rooting places. They started out this year with only a couple of small rooted up areas but, now they have worked over the field pretty good. I'm going to have to disk and replant a goodly portion of it now and I can't afford to be doing this every year. My problem is that this is the only family field that we own that has deer in it and we also duck hunt it when/if it floods. Will we be able to hunt the field if we are still operating the trap (with the bait placed INSIDE) come rifle or duck season? Also, will an officer have to come out to survey the damage inorder to issue a permit or will good quality pictures surfice? Thanks...

You will be able to obtain the hog exemption with just a call to your regional office. It does not require a visit from an officer.
You will not be able to deer hunt within 250 yards of the trap site or shoot within that zone if bait is present. It will also affect duck hunting, so you may want to start your trapping efforts after you finish duck and deer hunting.
