Shot my first deer with a bow this evening. Nice 6 or 8 pt buck. Hit him right front with arrow and saw him running away with the nocturnal glowing. Wife and I pulled out and went to eat dinner down at the parents house. Went back an hour later to start tracking. Found the arrow covered in blood, but not a pass through. Broad head and part of the shaft broken off. Arrow was stuck straight into the ground. Found good bright red blood in palm sized amounts for quite a ways, then a few drops, then nothing. He seemed to be heading down towards the draw so we lined out and started searching. 2 1/2 hours later still no deer.

I know the meat will not be salvageable come morning with it being 70 degrees, but were going to look again in the morning. I just hope it killed him and he's not just wounded. Carisa said it sounded like a baseball bat hitting a wooden wall when the arrow hit him. Thwack. $\:\($
