We do the every 3 month thing. If we changed it every 3 or 5k we would be changing it every 6 weeks. Driving from boro to Lebanon and boro to cookville as much as we do really racks the miles up.

The only reason to use the high mileage oil is if you have not been maintaining your vehicle properly. The additive package in high mileage oil supposedly helps clean sludge buildup if you have been slacking on doing your oil changes.

I run the walmart brand diesel oil 15w-40. It meets a higher api spec than regular oil. Better to run when pulling a trailer, boat, or just towing anything. I have a 97 GMC vortec 5. 7 with 282k on it. Still running strong. I use a good filter too. Fram tough guard. Change every 4-5k oil and filter. Use this in all my gmc vortec 5.7's. I have 3 vehicles with the same engine.

I use high mileage oil and I dont think it cost any more then the rest. My truck has 183,000 and the wifes yukon has 223,000 miles and both are very strong. "knock on wood" I will compare the price of oil that I buy to the rest and see if there is much difference, but I dont think there is.

A less then $2 diffrence from pennzoil high mileage that I use to the regular stuff is not that much to b!tch about if you ask me. I use a AC DELCO oil filter also. I also change it every 3000 miles or as close to it as I can. I went a little over on the yukon last change but its all interstate miles.
