We have foxes all over the place, the gray foxes were constanly barking (sounds like a cough) at the dog, the reds dont seem to be as vocal.

Reason I ask is I've seen several people shocked at the red fox squall/bark

I think i got a den behind my house in the woods. That is an awful sound.
I have a stand close to a den on one property I hunt. I found out about 5 o'clock on the opening day of bow season 3 years ago.
I had heard them before, but man, that's a terrible noise to hear sitting in the pitch dark.

Even knowing what it is making the sound, a bobcat's scream still raises every hair on my body when I hear it. LOL!!!
