Think'n we have a reisdent bobcat, wife & both daughters have heard something that makes a long crying/screaming sounds, has done it early AM & late PM so thers no certain time its around, I've yet to hear it since I leave for work way before light.
Can anyone else describe what they sound like ?? I've searched you tube & didnt find anything definate, mostly foxes barking that city dwellers thought were other beast.
Thanks, FF.

To me they sound like a woman screaming in terror. Whenever I have heard one it sent chills down my spine.

The above sounds like a accurate description but cats have a very large range they travel. I would find it strange to hear it on a regular basis, very well could be though. Also don't rule out the possibility of a screech owl, they make a similar sound.

I've had bobcats hang around our place for a few days at a time, then they move on. They aren't around very often at all, that I know of.

Yep , a woman or kid screaming and possibly could be a fox as well. The first time I ever heard one was about 19 years ago when I was about 13. I was out on my 4 wheeler on the farm shooting bullfrogs with a bb gun and when that thing screamed I swear I was pulling that rope start 100 mike an hour. Git home and told daddy someone was getting killed back in the hay field and told him what I heard and that's when I found out what it was.!!! Lol it will make chills run up your spine if they are close enough when they sound off.

As far as foxes go we see them in the back yard all the time & hear them exchange insulting barks with my dog, but thier bark sounds more like a rapsy cough.
I kept my ears open all weekend but didnt hear anything but my wife ....constantly.

Yeah, but its still mild right now. Just saying it "could" be something else, not saying it wasn't. I once heard a bobcat making a meow sound identical to like a house cat would make. It was the biggest one I ever seen. I jumped it on a m.l. hunt with a unloaded gun...
