Wow 1 penny is this why Glenn Beck wants us privatized. Dang when will they learn we dont get tax payer dollars. But we have to give the gov pre funding retirement, no other FED agency pays pre funding, why because our USPS prefunding pays for their retirement. So tell me what does the fed gov due to earn money like the USPS? Nothing they dont earn money they TAX YOU.

The USPS sucks..............for shipping anything. I have been tracking a package that was shipped Tues. morning in Tenn., It hasn't even gotten out of Tenn as of today..........really. 4 days.............estimated delivery to NY, 7 more days.

Tracked a second one as well, same deal............2 days just to get out of Tenn. good grief!!!!

Well with the age if the internet, I'm not surprised at all.... Payments being made online, e-mail vs. letters to write to people, online banking, shopping online.... got to pay the operating costs somehow.... But the P.O. should consider changing with the times.... Reform their retirement plan and look at their business plan...

I'm tired of the post office whining about losing money and talking about cutting back the number of days they deliver. First off the govt has yet to prove they can run anything efficiently. And secondly change deliveries to 3 or 4 days a week. I could care less. Sorry stalk hunter i know you work for them but its nuts.

when a coke was 5 cents a postage stamp was 3 cents, how much is a coke today, postage at any cost is a good deal, imo

No I fully understand, Things need to change drasticlly for the USPS. Lot of things I dont agree with. But when one plant processes over 1 million pieces a night well thats not to bad. But remember standards were relaxed. Do I agree no, do I think it hurt us yes. Do we need to reduce over head yes can we? yes and No. Do employee's give 100% no. As a boss i would love 60% from each employee.

Do our retirement need to chang no. The Government want us to pay prefunding it not necessary. Look I retire on 40% of my pay big deal. USPS is i believ still 3rd largest employer in the US, If you want it privatised be ready for major Layoffs.

Post office in HQ needs a major down size no doubt. That going to happen nope. I have not seen a raise in 3 years and have it frozen to 2015.

Our rates are still the cheapest around the world on first class. Now I had a packages shipped via parcel post with the usps. Told them 7-10 days. I got it in 3. So do some not make it on time yes, do we have failures yes.

But we have to also carrie, fed ex and UPS packages for them because they dont want to deliver them if they are not in that area. called the last mile contract.

I still think we do a pretty good job. But changes need to be made.

No doubt stalk hunter but bet on one thing...pensions are becoming a thing of the past. Your 40% is 40% more than i'll get from my company or most others. My retirement is 100% on me.

I wasn't talking about the retirement per say.... I was referring to the qualifications.... When a person can work for the PO for a couple of years and get the same retirement as a person that has been there 10-20-30 years, something is wrong....

I only remeber coke being 6cent but if I remeber right you got 2cent for returning the empty. Wish I could remeber what a stamp cost, I just remeber my grandmother fussing eveytime they went up.

Griz I agree on that part( When a person can work for the PO for a couple of years and get the same retirement as a person that has been there 10-20-30 years, something is
wrong....)

But Thank the Unions for that. We want a production standard in the USPS. Nope blocked by Union. We want lay off clause lifted nope blocked. We want more part time people like UPS, nope blocked by union. We want to get rid of dead weight, nope takes for ever to let someone go and the union gets them back. Union, Union, Union. I am a Fers employee, i get 40% retirement. Well civil service employees under 40 yrs get 75% and over 40 yrs 80% from the post office hmmm. Must be nice.

I put into supplemental retirement my own money. Now it gets matched up to first 5% then 50 cent on the dollar after that up to 15%. But I would rather have it all to invest. I also think if they would stop taking what we proffit, the Government and we know they still do, we would not be crying were loosing money.

The USPS name is wrong it should be back were it belongs. Department of the Post office. Mandated by the Constitution and can only break even or be in the red and supported under the The government budget. We are the cash cow for the government and the public does not even know that, nor do they demand this to stop.

Now you got some wanna be reporter Glenn Beck shooting his mouth off about something he knows nothing about. Go look at Privatized Post Offices a round the world. See what the pay for the services for sending mail. Then when you see those price, be pre-paired to pay them here if we get privatized.
