Saw 9 deer total. All were before 8:30 ! Had 2 does @ 30 yrds, could see them, and my site pin, but was still to dark to get a good visual on the vital, so I passed. Had a Buck come in with a yearling that was still spotted. The yearling came with in 15 yrds, the buck stayed out to like 40 in thick stuff. He was rubbing the heck out of a little tree. The yearling went back to him, and they left. No shot. I did find the tree he rubbed. Had 4 does and a 4 point come in together. Had a doe at 10 yrds broad side. Buck was about 20 yrds behind her in thick stuff again. I waited on the buck, thought he would follow her. Well she went on, and he turned and went left the same direction. He stopped, and there was a small tree that was close to me, that I could not shoot through. I cut it down when I got finished hunting today. I sat til 11:30, and never saw another thing. Didn't kill, but had a great day hunting !

Sounds like an awesome morning in the woods with a lot of excitement and anticipation. Not being a horses rear here by any means, but a yearling (1.5 yr old) and a fawn (0.5 yr old) are two different age class deer. I realize a lot of deer hunters say yearling and really mean fawn, but wanted to make that distinction for you for future reference. Best of luck next time out!

Unless you were going to mount that 4pt why didn't you just shoot the doe? Good morning outing anyway.
