Looking to pull together a group of guys from family and/or church to go fishing in Venice, LA in the springtime.
Anyone have a charter service they'd recommend either for redfish or offshore species?
I was thinking about getting a group to do one of those overnight trips, but I'm not sure if it's in the budget just yet.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

thanks! That's in the same ballpark - I guess I shouldn't really restrict it to the one town, since we don't necessarily have plans nailed down for it yet.

Me and some buddies go down to Venice about 3 to 4 times each year. We usually fish for reds and trout out of my bay boat ourselves and do OK. Most inshore guides down there charge $600 to $800 per day for redfish/trout fishing. Their boats can usually only handle 4 fishermen plus the guide, so whatever the cost is you split it 4 ways. The guide can also keep a limit on the inshore trips, which can be kept by the fishermen. They all have secret spots and help each other out on where the fish are that day, so its very likely you'll limit out when using any of guides. I've only used one and his name is Brandon Ballay - we had our limit by 11 am.
For offshore trips, you will be fishing primarily for tuna unless you specify otherwise. Those trips generally run around $1,800 to $2,000 per day including fuel costs. Most boats can handle up to 6 fishermen, but they usually recommend no more than 4 so everyone gets a chance at a tuna. So that's about $500 each for an offshore trip with 4 guys, which sounds a little steep until you get back to the dock with 10 or more 90 to 150 pound tuna and enough meat to last you a full year. They will also stop on the way out and in from the tuna grounds to catch amberjack, mangrove snapper, cobia, grouper, or whatever else is in season. I would recommend Capt. Eddie Burger - you should be able to google him.

My family usually goes down to Cocodrie La a couple times a year. We take our aluminum bass boats for the bayou. I don't remember the name of the deep sea guys we used but i'll try to get the info from my old man for you.

I head that way several times a year.
The inshore fishing is great out of Venice, LA. The reds and trout are a blast.
A buddy of mine has an off shore boat, and our main course is off shore. We have guided to pick up a few tricks of the trade. If you want to go off shore, I would recommend Captain Kevin Beach at Cypress Cove Marina. He's fun and fishes hard. I knew I would like him when he introduced himself and then said "So I here you guys want to KILL some tuna".

Right now is the best time for the trout but everything should be good till spring. My dad went this past Friday and they caught their limit plus some extra white trout that dont have a limit. Speckle trout limit is 25 per person.
