Nice chinook.....Yall can catch them a lot closer than Alaska, Lake Michigan has a ton of them. Not only out in the lake but in the streams in the fall.

King salmon...Chinook salmon are the same fish, caught many of them out of the lake and stream that ran next to my house. 32 lb was my largest, caught on a hot pink J-plug trolling off the port of Indiana. Most guys have never seen a downrigger set up so don't be to hard on them.

I was in Alaska first week of September for a week of fishing for silver salmon on the Kenai river. Started slow the first of the week, but we got into them on Wednesday & Thursday. On Friday we drove down to Homer and did a half day charter for hslibut, Had a blast! Me and my buddy brought home 48 Lbs of salmon fillets and 23 Lbs of halibut fillets.
If you love to fish this trip is a must! I'm trying to get my wife to go up next year. She loves to crappie fish, but once she hooks a 15Lb Silver salmon that just come in from the ocean, crappie fishing won't be the same!

Sounds like a good outting for the Coho's (Silvers)
If you ever get the chance and want to catch something that will burn 150 yards of line off your reel in 4 seconds you need to go no futher than NW Indiana in July and Aug. Either out in the big lake or one of the streams that empty into lake Michigan for Skamania Steelhead, they by far were the most fun to hook into, airborn in a flash. I have had them run out of the stream up on the other bank when hooked. Most run in the 14 to 16 pound range but can go over 20.
