I've shot powerbelts for the past 4 years but want to try something different. Plus they look to be alittle cheaper.

Tried them out of a Remington, Knight, and two CVAs. I couldn't get tho shoot well out of any of them. I got some Hornady SST and love them.

Try the Thompson Center XTP Mag sabots. They perform great for me and my buddies.

If you choose the shock waves, I hope you have EXCELLENT tracking skills! You will need them! No bullet has ever performed better for me than a 300 grain hornady xtp, bang-flop!

I shoot the 250 gr shockwaves with excellent results... The hornady sst and shockwave are same bullet made by hornady.

At regular muzzleloader speeds I never could get them to expand worth a crap, unless I hit a large bone. If I put them through the lungs the wound channel just never opened up.
Now if you drive them at medium SMOKELESS speeds they can be great bullets. If you go too fast with them shooting smokeless, they will just grenade and that's worse than no expansion at all.

At normal ML speeds I'll choose the 240 gr. XTP all day long. In my smokeless I shoot Barnes because of the weight retention and expansion. Like ratsnakeboogy said, an XTP at smokeless speeds is like a varmint round.

I shot the 250 over 100 grains pellet. 2 deer ... Luckily. Neither expanded. Both were almost in the same shape they were when I loaded them. They are crap. Shoot Barnes!
