I would think the much higher number of gun hunters would mean more lost by gun than bow.

I think there are alot shot with a gun that die when people do not even know they hit it. With a bow, you pretty much know you hit it so you are able to say you shot and lost one.

Same every year. Sad, but its going to happen probably more than once to every hunter over their career. Add those numbers up.

Percentage wise, more are lost with a bow. However, a higher percentage of those recover.
Number wise, more are lost during gun season simply due to more hunters taking shots.
Unfortunately, if you shoot at enough of them with eaither equipment, you will lose some. It just seems to me, this year there are more reported losses. I attribute that mostly to poor shot selection and blood trailing ability.

I think more are lost than found cuz of poor shot selections or push a deer when you shouldnt. Fact is its more of a challenge with a stick and string than a gun. shot placement is the big key, But i think most rush to get on a blood trail and the end up losing their deer.

To many people know what shots you should and shouldnt take but still take a marginal shot because they want to kill a deer so bad or just plain dont care for the welfare of the animal. Its amazing the number of hunters that I know personally that say to just shoot and try it even if its to far for their abilities or even if its not facing just right.I remember last year getting told I was crazy for not shooting when I let a 9 point walk by at 50 yards through thick timber without firing a arrow. These kind of hunters seem to be more the rule than the exception at least around me.
