I have had a number of issues with my knee for a number of years but now it is getting worse. I have refused to have anything done but I may have to do something now.

Who would you recommend for me to go see?

I don't know where you are, but Dr. Michael Cobb at the Boint and Joint Clinic in Jackson did my knee.

If you are in the Memphis area, I'd recommend Orthomemphis group. Dr. David Deneka did a knee scope on me Friday...yes, this past Friday. I was really impressed not necessarily with the surgery, but the followup afterwards. (Yes, the surgery was fine.) The week before surgery, they scheduled me for physical therapy the Monday after my surgery. And they contacted me earlier that week to get medical history, go over pre-op stuff (what to do, what not to do), etc. The doctor's office wen out of their way to contact me. When I had to contact them, they were easy to contact...no leaving messages, etc.

I had surgery on my other knee through a different group last year, and I did not have any physical therapy. And the doctor's office was difficult to contact. The surgery went fine, and I was given some guidelines to follow after the surgery. But there was no rehab/therapy followup, and I was kinda left wondering what to do to rehab my knee.

Yes, if you are in the Memphis area, go see Dr. David Deneka. He is a good personal friend of mine and an excellent surgeon. He practiced in Murfreesboro for many years and lived across the street from my family and our families became good friends. During that time my wife had the opportunity to work with many of his patients (she is a physical therapist) and always bragged on what a great surgeon he is. Several years ago he decided he wanted to be closer to home (Millington) and they moved. If I ever have any orthopedic surgery done on myself, I will drive to see him. He is that good.

Not to mention, he received his degree from Vanderbilt. \:\)

In middle tn I would go with either Vandy or Baptist while I go to vandy for everything Baptist has a great ortho area. They are also good at pumping out the babies if you are interested in that. \:\)

Just spoke to my wife the physical therapist and she works with a lot of different orthopedic surgeons and she says that Dr. Mathew Barrett(sp?) is probably the best in the Murfreesboro area now for total knee surgeries.
