Would you ask the DA to demand prison time? How is it a female teacher can have sex with a minor and not serve anytime. If the teacher is male they throw the keys away. Sex with a minor is wrong regardless of the gender of the teacher.

Over half of the parents out there today do not care. Case in point... My SNL and BNL from Northern Virginia have been here 2 times in the last couple of months with their daughter. The daughter is 17 and met a guy here last year some time. On both trips they have let her run the roads with this guy alone. He brings her back to my house when the DATE is over. They don't know where she is or what she is doing. He lives probably 40 miles from me.
I'm not saying anything is going on that shouldn't be... But you never know. The world is full of crazy people. Sad part is... Her father is a cop. You would think he would know better. I don't say anything to keep the peace. It's not my child. My 19 year old is in college and lives on campus. She can't believe they let her do this. She still calls me to get advice before doing stuff.

I graduated from HS at the age 21. I dropped out at 16, went back and finished.
And was dating one of the teachers at the time. However, she didn't quite look like that. Of course it was all legal but the thing is, it still bothered her.

I had a Teacher in high School (Spanish) Female that had supposedly slept with 4 or 5 guys from the football team we thought it was summin cool then bubt now as an adult I know better wrong is wrong

When i was in school all of my teachers either had white or blue hair. This type of thing seems to be happening way to much. There is a difference between the punishment of a male and female teacher i think. I have made comment at work about this same thing from time to time. It is hard to lay blame on that 17 year old boy i think. I was 17 one time. I don't get these good looking female teachers though. I just wonder how much of this goes on and the kids actually keep quiet about it. I bet it would be shocking.

It happened to a guy I know when I was in high school. Ultimately the woman lost her teaching license and got a slap on the wrist. Last I heard she is a nurse now. I think the difference between male teacher punishment and female teacher punishment is justified. Lets face it, high school boys are wired different that high school girls. It's laughable to say that an attractive 30 year old woman "took advantage" of an innocent 17 year old boy by having sex with him. Who remembers being 17? Would you have felt "taken advantage of?" I can safely say that when I was 17, if it was publicly revealed that I was having sex with a 30somthign year old teacher, neither of my parents would have sought jail time, and when we were alone, my dad would have smiled a winked.

Seems any minority or "oppressed" group is "Different" when it works in their favor. They demand equality everywhere else.
I think it's justified to be either equal or not. Can't have it both ways.

If a male teacher has sex with a 16 year old girl, there is a pretty good chance the girl was taken advantage of. Again, think back to when you were 17. How hard did you have to work to get a 16 or 17 year old girl to sleep with you? I think for the most part, it wasn't easy. So it's likely that if a teacher has sex with the same 16 year old girl, he probably use his position of power to persuade her, regardless of whether it was "consensual." The female ex-NFL football cheerleader with big fake ta-tas DID NOT have to use her "authority" or age to persuade a 16 year old boy to have sex with her. The double standard exists for a reason.

In my opinion the student was a minor regardless of gender. The teacher should be required to be on national sexual predator list and deserves more than a slap on the wrist.
What if the student was female and the teacher was a male? I think most on here would demand jail time for an authority figure.

I'm 23 so haven't been out of school real long and can tell you high school girls aren't the same as they used to be in some of your alls school days obviously. Ever heard the saying " life aint fair"? It's hard to say why it seems ok for a female teacher and a 17 year old boy but not ok for a 17 year old girl and a male teacher. Just the way it is , doesn't mean its fair or it's right.

Well I'm only 24. Maybe I mas doing it wrong in '05. There are always those girls that are ... More promiscuous, but by in large It's not as easy in high school as it is in college, but that's neither here nor there. The point is teenage boys are wired differently than teenage girls when it comes to sex.

Well the thing is that in some places this is not against the law. If you are just looking at the age but other states if it is a position of authority it makes a difference. I know the teachers should lose there positions just like in collage but then again did a president lose his job when he was getting his rocks off on the interns

Didnt have them like that when I was 17. I would let her take complete advantage of me. But being a parent now I would have a long talk to with my son. I don not condone that behavior with teacher to child relations. But I I also know what being 17 is like. Teacher should have known better, the boy well its kinda expected. IMO

Back in the day it would have been no big deal. If it was wrong the parents would take care of it. I did know hi school boys dating teachers but they where close in age. I know of one case the male teacher was dateing a student and it eas on the up and up the parents aproved.

I think its telling that the boy and his family were on the teachers side and that the boy, now 18 yrs old, is still dating the defendent. In fact, they left the courtroom together after the sentencing.
Doesnt make it right or the situation "fair", but it might make the argument that some situations like this need to be looked at on a case-by-case basis.

I have to say when I was in school we had a hot English teacher and I know a # of guys that would have loved to of had that happen to them. That being said it is wrong, but I bet that kid will be bragging for years to come. Im in my 40s and kids today are 10x worse than I remember being when I was in school. You can blame it on TV, the internet, bad parents, or whatever but times have changed and being a new parent I dread what Im going to have to deal with when my son gets older.

Some of my kin by marriage is listed as a child molster, he was 19 dating a 16 year old for two years, her parents were fine with it while they dated but when he broke up with her they filled charges. he will live the rest of his life marked and his little girls will grow up thinking the worst I'm sure. screwed up law for sure.

I'm not sure I see the connection of high school boys having sex = a forever disrespect of women. That's a bit of " the sky is falling" thought process.
However, I see it wrong male or female student.

Well she ain't a 10 but I probably wouldn't kick her out of bed for eatin crackers. I woulda at 17 and probably would now just sayin. The kid was 17 goin on 40. Heck I know folks that were married at 16 back in the day and had a kid by 17. I don't know what it is exactly but a young guy and an older woman just don't seem as wrong to me as some papaw trying to pick up a 16 yo girl. The latter for some reason is way wrong than the other.

I had a good looking teacher that wanted to have sex with me in high school. We did start hanging out and until my football coaches found out and put a stop to it. She went to another school and was caught having sex with a 17 year old. Shes is still in jail. At the time all the guys (including myself) thought it was awesome. Looking back on it now it's pretty messed up.

All joking about the skunkpunkin aside.
Its wrong. There is a power dynamic between student/teacher or any authority figure.
Now imagine you are an adolescent teen with all the raging hormones, near complete lack of relationship skills, and still in the emotionally developmental stage. Having a "relationship" with an older authority figure can have a lasting impact on the emotional development of a young person. Not unlike the negative dynamic caused by rape or sexual abuse.
The locker room "haw haw haw, get er done" mentality is misplaced. Its putting a negative adult attitude on an emotionally undeveloped teen, an attitude they are probably not emotionally ready to handle.
Let me put it this way, its like giving a kid a butter knife and putting them in a fight with an emotional Ninja. At the least they will wind up scarred for life.
And you can't tell me that an adult teacher who is willing to pull the trigger on having sex with a teen student isn't a cracker box full of crazy.

What if she wasn't a teacher? What if she was your married next door neighbor and was having it on with your 17 y.o. son? Would that be just as bad? Chances are, it would never get to court, would it?
Being a male minor and an adult female just does not carry the same weight as the reverse.

Leader, I was referring to the posters who said they would high five their son or thought it was cool the boy did this. I know male parents (can't call them men) like this and their sons have no respect for females. I know them and their sons well. Yes, unfortunately some of my childhood friends have raised dogs instead of men. I don't care what anyone on here thinks of my position. I know I am right and I am not embarrassed to share my opinion.
