Ahem,.... I'm over the acorns!! The property I am hunting is having a bumper crop this year and I am having a difficult time figuring a pattern out due to the absolute bazillion acorns around. 😡

same here, a lot of people are too. None of the trees have much deer sign under them but plenty of acorns. And then the deer are also eating forbs and other crap so that makes it tougher. I have about thrown the towel in with hunting food sources. Did find a honey locust dropping pods, with fresh tracks under it, and I may hunt that only because there are deer runs and sign all around it, and a good rub nearby.

I shot one the other day that was eating fresh cut privet, 20 mins after clearing shooting lanes. So much for acorns. They like to eat the invasive bush that they so often hide in.

Rarely do deer every eat all of the acorns from a bumper acorn crop. However, deer often stop eating the white varieties once they go to root in late November or early December. But if you have a good crop of red varieties, which don't go to root until spring, deer will be eating acorns all winter.

I've got a ton of acorns on the ground, but the deer are still wearing out the persimmons.

I've got two persimmon trees on the edge of a big field that looks like someone herded cows to it. Every pile of deer poop I find is about 80% persimmon seeds.
