More than likely they opened. Like others said they are designed to close.
Which tip? Was the Razortip or Razorcut?

The 2" cut Grim Reaper is not good for direct shoulder hits.

I shot this doe last Saturday at 32 yards. Hit her low because I was hunting from the ground and she crossed a fence at 18 yards, I drew and when she appeared on the other side of the trees she was right at 33 yards. Regardless it went in on the opposite side of the one that is showing in the picture and hit the opposite side shoulder and prevented the pass through but I believe the force of the arrow actually broke her leg about 6 inches down from where the arrow hit. It was like jello and for a borderline low shot ,she bled good and went about 100 yards and was stone dead in less than 45 seconds possibly quicker. Wish I could have put a better shot on her. The reaped only cuts a full 2" at the widest point ,when its ears are laid back its much more like a conventional head.
