Been in my house for three years and hunted and had trail cams up since I bought the place and have never seen many deer at all around here. There is no food source. Recently I purchased twenty acres behind me so now it's mine to do what I want. Plan on doing a couple food plots 3-5 acre a piece next year. (Do I still have time this year?) how long will it take to pull deer from other properties over to mine? Are food plots alone enough?

Food plots will draw deer immediately. But don't be surprised if most of the trail-cam pictures of those deer are at night. Good-quality cover, and more importantly sanctuary cover, is far more of a daylight draw. And that only takes the first year it is cover AND sanctuary to draw deer, especially during the high-pressure gun season. Deer quickly find the "holes" in our hunting pressure. In radio and GPS-colar studies in super high-hunting pressure areas of PA, it only took 48 hours for deer to shift into unhunted areas.
