As far as stopping a moving deer goes, what ever happened to a simple whistle from your mouth. Stops them dead in their tracks almost every single time. When I watch some of these tv hunting shows and they are belting out "BAH..BAH..BAH" I can't help but laugh.

x2, i whistle at them as well

as far as a calls, a simple contact call and i also use sparing rattles, nothing heavy, but that is what works for me...ive turned a many a deer with a contact call
