you will get different opinions on deer lures. Which ones are better, and whether you should even use lures. I bought a bottle of Trails End 307 last year, didn't use it enough to get results (I put it in my back yard where deer were already passing through, and had 2 spikes come through one morning, don't know if it was the scent or not)
I don't plan on buying any scents this year. Maybe once if I get curious enough to try it on some private land with low hunting pressure. Public land, no, there will be plenty of other hunters using scents and the deer are smart.
I think people do have success using different scents, but it's not very consistent from what I read. Like people don't go out and use a scent and have deer regularly come into it. I could be wrong but that's what I have gathered.
My guess is that you have much better chance at seeing deer by setting up on a travel route or food source, somewhere that you know the deer will use frequently.

I've used scents, etc. since I started deer hunting in 1973. Some have worked at times and when they do it's a thing of beauty but overall you're probably better off not wasting your money. I "lured" in a bunch of deer over the years but buckwise, most have been young bucks. The latest I've used has been buck bombs in estrous scent. I mist some going in closer to my stand site and occassionally do some from the stand. A hunting buddy does the same thing and we've both seen the same results. It will draw deer in but again, mostly young bucks. I also use it on drag rags that I place near my stand and we've both seen bucks follow that scent in. We had a dandy mature buck scraping and grunting at one last year but couldn't get a shot off.

Wait til the rut and shoot a doe and place her carcass in front of you and wait--best bait there is and it is au-natural and free. Otherwise, don't waste your money.

The single best scent you can use is common.
More deer have been killed using common sense than any other. Best thing about it, it is free.
Find a good place, hunt wisely and you will never need a lure or scent.

It may just be a confidence booster, but so far every time I've used Buck Bomb I've had deer come in and inspect. They might come in a little spooky, but they will usually come in to inspect it when otherwise they may have passed on by out of sight.... That's my .02

I get a Doe Pee Buck Bomb for early season just to use as a cover scent. Spray it on my boots for the walk in then do a quick spray(1/2 second) about every hour to check wind and help cover my scent downwind. Had a deer sniffing my ladder last year right after I climbed up when I had sprayed my boots.
