Currently using 180grain power-points,this will be the first year using this gun. Just want to see what ya'lls opinions are. Thanks!

I used the Federal Powershok in 7mm Mag. They dropped everything I shot with them. You can get them at the Dickson Walmart for $17.97 a box I believe. Same for the 7mm and 300 win mag. You can't beat them for the money. They come loaded with Speer bullets. 300mag are probably 180gr.

Some of the premeir bullets are pushing $60 a box.if I was elk hunting sure but deer are not that hard to kill with just about any centerfire.the smaller caliburs need premium but horsepower works also lol

I shot 180gr corelock and and never had a deer take a step. The enter and exit hole wasnt that bad unless the buller clips a limb and goes to tumbling then its one ugly hole

I have a rem 700 in 300 win mag. If you are just hunting whitetail in TN where most shots are well under 100 yds, I would say use whatever you can find that is cheapest. It does not take much for a 300 to take down a whitetail. As long as you can keep it in a 2 inch group at 100yds benched, its good enough. If you plan on hunting something thick skinned or going to take a 300 yd shot, you might consider going with a more expensive premium bullet and spending more time at the range. I reload factory seconds nosler partition 180s using rl22 for a around 70 cents a round not counting the cost of brass which I have tons laying around. Those will punch thru the shoulder of anything in North America.

Federal PowerShok at Wal-mart stores that carry federal. $17.97 a box at the ones around here. Only a few of the stores around carry Federal.
