Someone spilled/dumped about a gallon of white in the parking lot where my girlfriend attends college. She was leaving class and drove through it that night. Several other students also drove through it and got the paint on their cars. What is the best way to remove the paint? The car is brand new and I don't want to mess up the car's paint. Also, if the paint damages the car, is the college responsible?

A body shop can get it off.

The college won't cover it...
I would go straight to a reputable body shop and the quicker the better.

Latex will be fairly easy. Oil base not so easy. But removal wont be to bad. If done right you will never know it was there. Why would the school be responsible? Was it theirs?

I was just curious if they were responsible, thats the reason I asked. I have no idea if it was their paint, the renta cop that works there told her they won't cover it.

Get you some of the tar remover and try it.
Depending on what kind of paint we are dealing with acetone will bring most off.But it may harm your cars paint .
But the number 1 solution is.....(drum roll)
Get some Rubbing compound and good ole elbow grease.

Get an estimate from a shop. Could be a comp claim if she has that.

It should come off fairly easily if it latex and you get it before its totally dry. All a body shop is gonna do it rub it off with thinner or some other solvent . Determining the type of paint on it is the key. As far as harming the factory paint there should be no worries. Just don't use any type of stripper or acid on it.
We have also found that using a pressure washer... With a fan tip , not a point will remove it just as easily.

Based on the fact it was white paint I would guess it is more than likely latex. If you have a good coat of wax on your car prior to that it will peel right off. If that doesn't get it rubbing compound or a clay bar will take it off.
