Anyone do anything creative to strap the top and bottom parts of their stand together while carrying in woods?

The foam insulation that you use on water pipes works well. I used to just snap it on. I put a little Gorillia glue on the pieces now. They stay where I put em.

I had that noise problem with my API Grand Slam...it turned out to be mostly from the chain hitting the inside of the stand.

I fixed it by replacing teh chain, straps, and stand with a Summit Viper.

Haven't had the problem with the Viper but on my old metal climbers and ladders too, I drilled a hole just big enough for the end of a tube on the expandable foam and shot em full, everywhere there wasn't a bolt or something needed to slide. worked pretty darn good too.

Had the same problem with my API. Also, the black plastic coating had been peeling off, making more noise and creating more shiny surface for deer to see. I just bought some liquid plastic from Home Depot and dipped the chain in it. In the photo, the black is the original plastic and the red is the liquid plastic. Works great now.

Never met a Summit that I liked as much as my APIs. Climber considerations are so personal - everybody seems to have different needs.
