There will be a Trapper Education class on Oct. 6-7 at Lake Lajoie Group Camp on Chickasaw State Park. The class will roughly run from 9am to 5pm on Saturday and 9am to 1pm on Sunday. (the group camp is located about 10 miles west of the main park on Hwy.100). For those needing lodging we have a few options this year. there are sites for tent camping or RV hook-ups available at Chickasaw State park. Camping info and prices can be found by calling the Park at 1-731-989-5141. The second option for lodging is we have 16 cabins located at the group camp. They consist of a 1 room cabin with 3-4 bunkbeds each.(you would need to bring sleeping bags and pillows, etc. They also have a bathroom and shower facility (bring towels and toiletries). These cabins will be free until they fill up. Lunch will be provided on Saturday. So bring some food to throw on the grill if you are staying Saturday night.
This class is for "beginners" to "old-timers". We will be covering location selection, set making, fur handling, supplies and everything in-between. There will be several knowledgeable trappers ranging from State, Federal, ADC and private individuals covering demonstrations throuhout the class. There will also be an actual trapline run both mornings of the class. So what better way to get geared up for this falls upcoming trapping season than to attend and pick up a few pointers to help put more fur in your traps this fall.
The one thing that I am asking is for everyone to please pre-register for the class so I can get a head count to prepare for supplies and food for the event.

Already registered and looking forward to it. So ready in fact I'm coming a few days early to hunt Chickasaw forest then take the class!!!
