I work in a Barbershop in Johnson city, we all know that Barber Shop isn't the only thing that begins with BS, anyway, over the past two weeks, several people are saying there is an "outbreak" of EHD, or blue tongue in our area of the state and in western North Carolina. I know I've been seeing a ton more deer this year than last and they all look pretty healthy to me. One guy said he has had to remove three dead bucks from his driveway. Sounds a bit far fetched to me so, I'll let y'all answer it. Thanks

Ross,
I haven't heard of anything of that nature up that way.
That doesn't mean it isn't going on-just that the news may not have trickled down this way.

There were scattered reports late August-early September. From what I heard at the office it was mainly Carter and Johnson Co's. But nothing like a few years ago. People may be more prone to talk about it now because of the huge outbreak a few years ago.

North Carolina is getting hammered right now. In some parts of the state they estimate they lost 50% of their herd. Luckily we have only had scattered reports which is typical. We have even confirmed EHD in East TN this year by submitting a suspect animal for disease testing. Nothing to worry about though.
