Intermittent issue -

The worst kind -
Can-am Outlander - 400 -
Runs and runs - then, it 'acts' like it's fuel starved - and stops - if I give it full choke it will fire back up and try to run - but not with throttle - unless feathered -
It's like there is something plugging up the fuel -
I've drained the tank and blew compressed air from the fill cap out the reserve tank fuel line. ( I cut it at the tank )
Installed a filter and ran for about a mile or so and it started doing it again -
Sort of taking the tanks out and really cleaning out -
any suggestions ????

If there nothing blocking the air-flow I'd pull the carb or at least the bowl off the carb and inspect, pull and clean jets - needle & seat etc with carb cleaner.
Also, grab a can of Sea-Foam - pour an ounce or 2 in the tank - ride it around the yard 5-minutes - park it and let it idle for 20 minutes. Sometimes its as simple as letting it clean itself out at idle. Additive will often do a better job of cleaning during idle.

The 'thing' that makes me think carb issue - is when it does stop - if I fully choke (manual) it will start and I can run some if I play with the choke (using mostly fully engaged) would that make it more of a fuel delivery issue than air ?
When it starts to act up - i can choke it and it will run' better', and I can limp it home sometimes with it choked up a good bit - restricting the air and pushing more fuel -

Before I took the carb apart - I'd drain the gas down to less than a 1/4 tank and add an ounce or so of sea foam cleaner.. Slosh it around pretty good and pull the choke etc to keep it running a few minutes.. You may be surprised and might get by without pulling the carb, or at least dropping the bowl.

Had the same thing happen to my rancher dirt dobbers got in the air vent up by the gas tank and it would barely run

If all the air passages are clear check the float, needle and seat on the carb. Take it down right after it dies and see if the float has fuel in it.
