I shot a doe yesterday for the first time with the 2-inch Razortip Grim Reaper. Good shot placement, somewhat small entry hole, good size exit wound; but I am not sure if all of the blades opened on the broadhead. As a matter of fact, maybe only one of the blades opened.
The deer ran 100 yards and left a decent blood trail.
I switched from Muzzy's to Grim Reapers this year. It's going to take a couple more kills to make me a believer.

I killed a doe a few years ago with a Grim Reaper. She was quartered towards me more than I realized so the shot went through her at angle and came out near her hip. She left one of the best blood trails I've ever had with a bow.

Why do you think the blades did not open?
Grim Reapers usually snap shut after passing through a target or animal. The sudden stop snaps the blades shut. Everytime I shoot a Reaper through a target the blades are shut.
The entry hole on Reapers will be smaller cause the blades are deploying while it enters the animal. The internal damage of the 3 sharp blades and the exit wound are what make them effective.

A buudy of mine was over here last week, and after I got his Hoyt tuned we did some playing around with the Grim Reaper Whitetail 2" inch cut and those things are nasty—at least on a milkjug filled water, a phone book and a bucket. One thing I learned is that the blades open up after they have penetrated past the point of entry. On the small yellow pages phone book, the blades started opening up after 20 pages and were fully deployed by the time it went through the back of the book—the book is about 1" thick.
The milkjug was shot about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom and it drained its contents in less than 5 seconds.
Yes, the blades to close as the broadhead comes to an abrupt stop. One way that you can tell that the blades did, or did not open, is to inspect where the broadhead sits on the insert....there will be tiny indentions/marks in the insert from where the blade edge squeezes down on the insert as it opens—that is how you can tell if it opened or not.
I'm not a fan of mechanicals, actually I hate the things, but these have my interest after what I witnessed the other day, and I can't wait for someone to post up some pics of what they do to a deer.
You Reaper Whitetail users, check your factory blades for sharpness, my friend's blades were very dull from the factory, like my butter knife is sharper kind of dull, and he called the manufacturer and they admitted that they had a bad batch of blades and they put some in the mail to him that day—hence the reason why we decided to shoot those to see what they do.

Because two of the blades were in the "shooting" position after the pass through, and it appeared to have one large cut in lieu of three.
Grim Reapers usually snap shut after passing through a target or animal. The sudden stop snaps the blades shut. Everytime I shoot a Reaper through a target the blades are shut.

I shot this doe last Saturday at 32 yards. Hit her low because I was hunting from the ground and she crossed a fence at 18 yards, I drew and when she appeared on the other side of the trees she was right at 33 yards. Regardless it went in on the opposite side of the one that is showing in the picture and hit the opposite side shoulder and prevented the pass through but I believe the force of the arrow actually broke her leg about 6 inches down from where the arrow hit. It was like jello and for a borderline low shot ,she bled good and went about 100 yards and was stone dead in less than 45 seconds possibly quicker. Wish I could have put a better shot on her.
The reaped only cuts a full 2" at the widest point ,when its ears are laid back its much more like a conventional head.
