I stay away from IR cams.Year or so ago I switched to IR cams from white flash. And what I got was un mistakeable results..The number of pictures I was getting was cut in half, and of the deer pictures I was getting at night, most of the deer was looking right at the cam or was spooked. I sold both IR cams I had shortly after that and bought white flash cams. I belive deer relate the white flash to lighting but when they see the Red GLow of IR cams they freak out. I think black flash would be a good option,i'd like to get 1 and try it out.

The million dollar question is how will you use the camera most of the time? If you will monitor trails and crossings where deer are on the move, I'd go with a white flash that has a good trigger speed (less than 2 seconds) so you can catch the buck in the frame and reduce image blur. If your sole intent is to monitor salt licks and scrapes, where deer are more stationary, a black flash is the ticket hands down. I will occasionally use one of my white flash cams on a scrape, but I never use my black flash or IR cams on deer that will be moving. Hope this helps.

I have both.. I have more white flash which I like better. Mainly because I like color pics. IR takes too many black and white during the day no matter where its put. Half the night pics just aren't clear and the flash area is just too small...

Actually notice more spooked deer from IR. I have used white flash on same farms for a long time. Deer seem to be used to it and not mind the flash. Even mature bucks..

I agree - it totally depends on what you want a camera for. For my purposes, I would never use anything except a white flash.

Personally, I would NEVER use a white-flash cam. But to each their own.

Black-flash is the only thing I will buy.

I use all Moultrie, I'm not saying this just because Moultrie is what I use. But the battery life is awesome on the white flash.. They take thousands of pics and still have plenty of battery. One of my older models has took over 900 pics already this year and still has 78% battery left. I never have to change batteries from July til Feb. and they all take a lot of pics.. IR seems to run down twice as fast for me...
