strain your poop!HA! Persimmons require excoriation through a GI tract before they will germinate at high rates......no $*&^, no persimmons, literally!

The above maybe a complete wive's tale, so don't go making a scene out in your backyard, chasing coyotes and coons around hoping for some droppings!!!! :D.

They need to freeze before they will grow, put em in the freezer for a week

Once in soil germination take a long time, 12 weeks sometimes

I have never had any problems with germination rates and they do not have to pass through a GI tract as many believe—that is an old wives tale. I gather seeds and place them in a tupperware container that is lined with a lightly damp towel and leave them in the fridge for a few months. I then just plant the seeds and always have a 60%-70% germination rate. I have also just gathered the seeds up in late feb. and planted them and have had similar results. I have more seeds this year than I have ever had, due to a much higher than normal crop, so I will have some extra seeds if anyone wants some.

I just picked some seeds up off the ground from under a persimmon tree. I poked a hole in the soil of our flower bed and dropped one in each hole. Covered them up with a little soil and they all came up. I done this in the fall and the next fall I moved them to pots. I will be planting them as soon as I get a chance.

Same here. Just put them in the fridge for a few months with a damp paper towel. Plant in the spring.

Do you have to have a male and female tree for the females to produce?

Yes, there must be a male in somewhat close proximity in order for it to pollinate the female. One thing that I have noticed is that the male tree's bark is much more of a bigger, blockier checkerboard pattern.
