Hey guys,

I don't know if anyone out there is like me but when I am out in the woods on a cold morning my body feels stiff as a board. Usually when I am practicing, my best shots come after I have fired off about 3 or 4 arrows.

What do you do to get rid of that stiff shoulder and make that first shot count on that deer?

I like to be in the stand 30-45 before first light. When I sit down and get situated I will then pick up my bow and practice pulling it back a few times. This usually helps my muscles wake up. I may do it from time to time throughout the day just to make sure I'm not so stiff.

I have a rubber exercise band. If I don't do strectching exerises every morning I get in sad shape pretty quick. I think it's something called getting old. LOL.You can also do isometric exerises on the stand waiting for daylight. Very little movement but will warm up the muscles.

I practice draw a few times before first light and once an hour during slow times on the stand with no game in sight .

I usually try using my Bowfit device for some light poundage warmup/stretching exercises before I leave the house. It helps a bunch.

Quit laughing, wait until you are my age. The stiffness goes away.

And stays gone.

As for the bow thing, Just pull it back a few times once you get in the stand.

The bow, I mean.

And have an arrow nocked when you are parctice drawing in a stand. Dry fires can happen in the woods, too.
