Yeah, I've never had a clover plot that looked that good. Just out of curiousity where do you buy your seed? Not trying to imply that is your key to success but .... just wondering.

That clover actually doesnt look as good as it has in previous years. Its never had a ounce of fertilizer. I buy seed at the Co-Op or Putnam Farm Supply generally. I ordered Durana from Cooper Seeds though.

Have you ever tried Berseem clover? I did one year as it is supposed to generate more quickly than most clovers. It did very well and came up quicker but I think it is considered an annual although it can re-germinate I believe.

Ive had it in some mixes but just like crimson because I can get it easier and have always had alot of luck with it reseeding itself even though its an annual. Ive got some crimson clover going on 3 years without me buying any more seed.

Stone, all you do on your plots is spray after you Bushhog then spread the seed before a rain? Yes but the winter wheat/crimson clover plots in these pics were disked this year. I have it on a 4 year rotation. 4 years of not disking, just mowing, spraying, seeding or mowing, seeding, spraying and then 1 year where I disk. To many years of not disking will result in compacted soil so you have to disk sometimes. This year I disked half of the 6 acres I planted, then next year I will disk the other half. Then I wont disk for 4 years.
