What kind of pears are those again? My neighbor planted several and I don't see much activity on his. They're monster sized pears though.

My kieffers are rock hard right now until about November then they will be eaten when they ripen. Not sure if what you have pictured are kiefers.

How resistant to fireblight are the kieffers?

They are resistant, but again key word is resistant. I had some fireblight on 2 of mine this year out of around 20. That is easily taken care of though if you monitor for it and stay on top of it.

I have a tree in my yard. It bears pears that look just like that. They are hard but make good canning pears. Deer under the tree every nite. Squirrels cut the flesh away and eat the seeds. My Golden Retriever (Ranger) LOVES them better than the deer do. He'll run dow to the tree, hop up and grab one off the tree (even though there are hundreds on the ground) and run back and get under my legs while I'm sitting and reading and eat the entire thing, stem and all. He then repeats the process. Says it keeps him regular.
