Went to tear it down today to lube the breech plug/vent liner threads, and low and behold i cant get the breech plug out!! Ive got it standing on end soaking in wd40. Any experience with this? Also if and when i do get it out how do i clean the plug and liner to insure the oil is gone? Will rubbing alcohol work?

I highly doubt the WD40 will work. Try using the supplied wrench and the whacking it with a hammer on the end. Should break the bond and remove. If not you can try Pine-sol. Soak the same way you were with WD40. As for removing residue just wash out with dish detergent like Dawn and water.

I did not have the same issue removing. Once you get it out, a little anti-sieze should prevent future problems.

I use Clean Break CLP to clean vent liner and breech plug.

I use teflon tape on my Savage's breech plug. Works very well.

Best of luck freeing that bound plug.

And if the breechplug is stuck, then your ventliner prolly will be, too. The supplied allen wrench is very cheap, so you may want to try a different one when trying to break the ventliner free. Do what the owner's manual says when you get it all straightened out: shoot 2-3 shots when clean, then break it free and retighten to break the carbon bond that causes it to seize.
