I wondered that also i here that is the one of the most expensive costs of the hunt
Reason that I am asking is because it is my understanding is that it typically costs ~$5-$10 a pound to have it butchered and shipped and that many AK butchers offer this is a combined service. However, at that rate, $600 lbs of Moose meat and you are looking at ~$4,000. A lot of guys donate the bulk of their meat and bring home a 100 lbs, but I would have a hard time bringing home less than half of it and even leaving half of it would ne tough.
I'm guessing that the paddles have to go on a pallet and that's going to run you at least $500 to the lower 48, probably closer to 1k. I guess you could combine your meat and paddles into a single shipping pallet and save some money, but you are still looking at least $3,000, shipped 2nd day, I would think.
My first thought was that you could butcher yourself, but having the supplies on hand would be a whole other problem, plus you are going to need it frozen before you ship it anyway, so you would likely have to pay someone to deal with that for you... might as well get it processed at that point.

Bone and trim - $0.89/pound
We shipped 3 boxes overnight for less than $500 which was right at 200 pounds of meat. Donated the rest. Dropped off ~600 pounds total.
Antlers are still to be determined. Cleaning and crating already cost me $300 and I anticipate another $300-500 for shipping. Could have carried on plane but would have to split skull plate due to size limits. UPS would not take them due to size either so they have to be sent freight.

That's not bad at all on the shipping.

Sounds like...very roughly...that all this tacked on another $1400 to the trips overall cost. Somewhat right? 0.89x200 500 300 400
