Just received an amendment to the bag limit via letter from TWRA, and would feel much better with confirmation that I am understanding it correctly:
This year hunters will be allowed 2 deer of either sex, and will no longer be required to kill an antlerless deer first?

That would mean to me that there is no requirement to shoot an antlerless deer before shooting a buck, and that I could shoot two bucks if I wanted to.
That part brings p the question if bucks are bonus deer there and if more than one could be taken.
Region III could best answer that for you.

It did specify that the two deer are Bonus Deer. Previously the antlerless first rule was in play, and the letter received instructs to ignore that limit, replacing it with the new. But MAN I'd hate to have ol' Bloodhound breathing down my neck in the parking lot while I'm standing over two big TNT bucks!

The letter read "two deer, EITHER SEX" one either sex turkey. deer are "bonus" deer.
This means, two does, two bucks, or one of each.
Obviously TWRA is making a statement here. Anti's take note...TWRA is interested in REDUCING the herd. And TWRA has EXACTLY two days in which to do this. With only 80 hunters, all carrying archery tackle (i.e.-short range) KILL WHAT YOU CAN!
It is obviously NOT about QDM, TDM or anything but MAXIMUM deer harvest.
IMO, this is a good P/R tactic for TWRA. To me it says they want to do their part in reducing deer/car collisions as well as reduce deer numbers.
Sounds like a good idea to me.
Count me in.
In fact, I hope TWRA has coordinated with Hunters for the Hungry to be at the check in station, BANNER (HFTH) flying high and cooler COLD, to accept any deer meat that we may want to contribute in these tough times.
I'd be willing to bet there are FEW, if ANY PETA members standing in line serving venison (or any meat) soup at local shelters.
And the papers will LOVE that story!

i live across the street from enterprise south, this is only a start towards the right direction, i could go for a ten minute ride at dusk and hit 2 or 3 deer no problem around there (literally almost), I have to say BRAVO for going in the right direction but need more hunters or more days or both to ever REALLY help with deer/car collisions, but again i say BRAVO for a good move by TWRA in the right direction

Well, the deer loving lady, where I work in Buffalo, NY, they put her in JAIL. They are using archery to thin urban deer herds here because of 4 consecutive mild winters in this area.
link to Cheektowaga's "deer lady," has been charged for the third time with illegally feeding the deer in Stiglmeier Park.
