My deer shifted off plots and onto acorns about a week and a half ago. Still some visiting plots but nothing very significant.

What food plots we do have this time of year are young and are not fully in. This time of year it's mainly about hunting the nuts.

When acorns fall the plots are basically left.

Yep, IMO when the acorns start dropping the deer will not frequent the food plots as much. But as soon as they have finished off the acorns and late into the season food plots usually are prime.

The plot I have is not being used much- I was wondering why. That's fine because it needs a few weeks to get established.

In the past, deer often ignored my plots if acorns were available. But over the years I've seen more a move towards dual use, even in a good acorn year. I have no idea why.

Even with the acorns falling I always get good usage on my plots. It may be beacause there are no other plots for miles around.
