After reading so many great reviews on Harvestor sabots, I'm going to experiment with them. Most users claim they make loading easier, as well as accuracy better.

Would like to know which specific versions Savage smokeless users prefer with various loads. Most probably, I'll continue to use AA5744 coupled with a .300gr Barnes original.

Harvestors come in a 3-petal and a 4-petal version.
Which is best?

from what i have read the Savage Smokeless has a larger bore and sometimes the BLACK ones are too loose and need the RED ones instead.

as far as the Sabots go i LOVE them personally.

What's the difference in the 3-petal vs. 4-petal versions (both available in black and red)?

Red is designed for a bullet diameter of .452. If your using the 300 gr Barnes Original that is a .458 bullet and it will not fit with a red BCR. Use the black.

Thanks for all the input.

I also emailed Harvester Muzzleloading, and here's a summary of their answer:

"Anyway, we developed the Red CRS for Savage and other smokeless guns.
Savage shooters will use the Red CRS unless they have a .458 bullet.
In that case, they will use the Black CRS.

Also, we started offering the 50 packs of the Scorpion PT Gold bullets for guys like you that need the Red CRS. This is the best value to get the 50 pack of bullets and combine it with the correct CRS."

If you haven't checked out the Harvester Scorpion PT Gold bullets, take a look. I'm going to give them a try with the Red CRS, and assuming accuracy is acceptable, they may be what I stick with for a long time.

Cecil,

Thanks for the offer, but no need for you to spend any postage at moment. I have a shipment in route of a good variety of Harvester Sabots and Scorpion Gold bullets. There's probably someone else in greater need you'll run across who would like to have those extra sabots you're not using.

But if you still have them after I finish my testing, I might buy them from you. \:\)
