who cares...you miss the point...it is NOT the governments money, they didnt earn it!

Maybe we should just tax everyone at 100% and the government can give you back what they think you need....

Oh NO!!

Taxing the rich doesn't pay for much either.

"According to the left's own calculations http://www.cbpp.org/files/1-31-07tax.pdf

and as reported by the New York Times, http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/11/us/politics/11tax.html

Obama's plan to raise taxes on the rich will generate $700 billion in additional revenue over the next decade, or just a pathetic 0.3% of GDP. "

You have to use pictures with liberals. By definition, they don't read so well.

I'll say it's just not so.
Just more class warfare rhetoric.

What I'd really like to know is how is it nearly half of all Americans pay no income tax at all, yet we pick on the "rich" for not paying their fair share?

I think one of the biggest single contributing factors to our country going bankrupt is half the people not caring because they have no skin in the game. They think it's OK so long as they're spending (or taking) other people's money, and don't see how excessive taxes on the "rich" are killing the geese that lay the golden eggs.

Our income tax system is like a gas station giving away free gas to the people who drive cars, while charging the people who drive trucks $15 a gallon because they can obviously afford to pay more than their fair share since they drive a truck. What happens when the truck drivers opt for a car? Gas stations go out of business, and no one gets to drive anything?

Here, fixed it for you.

From the CRS Report for Congress

There is not conclusive evidence, however, to substantiate a clear relationship between the 65-year steady reduction in the top tax rates and economic growth. Analysis of such data suggests the reduction in the top tax rates have had little association with saving, investment, or productivity growth. However, the top tax rate reductions appear to be associated with the increasing concentration of income at the top of the income distribution. The share of income accruing to the top 0.1% of U.S. families increased from 4.2% in 1945 to 12.3% by 2007 before falling to 9.2% due to the 2007-2009 recession. The evidence does not suggest necessarily a relationship between tax policy with regard to the top tax rates and the size of the economic pie, but there may be a relationship to how the economic pie is sliced.

I cannot wait until the Bush Tax Cuts EXPAIR on Dec 31, 2012.

Go look at the tax charts, the lowest income to the middle income WILL get the HIGHEST raise in rates and they will scream the loudest. It will simply be the very same rates they had BEFORE the Bush Tax Cuts.
