looking for a gun for a youth,where does the calibers start that are legal to hunt with,example,is a 223 legal

Any centerfire is now legal.

A 223 is a great gun for kids for a couple of reason one is cheap ammo to get practice with very little recoil. That is what i am getting to teach my girls. It is also a very versatile gun

I had great success with my kids (and wife) using a .243 as well, but yeah, any centerfire ammo larger than a .22 will get her done
