I was just wondering what everyones feeling is on what the forecast is for this deer season? Have you been seeing alot of deer? Old deer, young deer, healthy? Do you think its too early to tell? Your feedback is appreciated, I haven't had a chance to do much scouting.

As you know it's always just a wild guess. My hope is that the harvest stays somewhere in the 160-170,000 deer range. That would give us some anecdotal evidence that our herd is relatively stable. As far as the age structure goes, if we stay in the 45%-35%-30% (yearling - 2-1/2 - 3-1/2+) range, I don't think we could ask for much better (without seriously restricting our hunters). Anyhow, anything close to those numbers shows our herd is in excellent health. I wonder what our deer guy thinks? BigGameGuy, First...Thank you for the great deer heard we have in Tennessee. Second...Seen more 8 pt or better bucks in velevt than ever this year. There are there we just got to do our part on getting them out of the woods.

I hunt 200 acres in Williamson county and my cameras there are getting more deer and better quality bucks than last year. I have a private lease in Robertson county and that is about the same as last year--which is good. I'm in a hunt club by Hohenwald in Lewis county and I'm getting more deer pics with better looking deer than any of the six years I've been there. I'm stoked--I think this will be a great year for deer hunting! (I just hope they are still there next weekend.)
