I sent in my comments.
We were planning on doing an antelope hunt in QY next year, but will reconsider.
We have already hunted the Bookcliffs that are on the UT-WY border and always wanted to get into the mule deer winter range in QY. But, 68% increase!!

If they need the money, they need the money.

Costs have gone up for wildlife agencies all over the country.

Have hunted WY a lot over the years and currently into 5th yr of a 7 yr waitin list for elk in which I'll go regardless of tag cost.

That said, the WY game & fish really put a bad taste in my mouth a couple of yrs ago. My wife had drawn antelope tag along with our 2 grandsons. They each burned 3 points to get them. I didn't apply as I knew I'd have my hands full playing guide to them. Long story short is that her mother came down with terminal cancer, and my wife (RN) of course was primary caregiver. Wrote the Wy game & fish and explained why she could not use her tag. Told them that I didn't even want a refund, but would like to have her pp's reinstated. They flatout denied the request, but did say that if my wife had been the one with cancer, they probably would have granted the request....

Wow you would have thought they would have done a refund to points. Not like they wouldnt have sold your wifes tag in the leftovers. Well i bought points for antelope and deer even with the increase.

WY is a unique place, the people are point blank with you and a lot lack the "southern hospitality" we are used to. So I can see that story play out exactly with them denying the request.

Close to 50% of WY hunters are NR, so if they make too many upset they will lose a lot of $$. Outfitters also make, or should I say pressure, a lot of the decisions made...the guide on the wilderness areas is a prime example, so who knows the reason why. I will continue to hunt out there, but if they go up that much I may only hunt one species per year or go to hunting WY every other year, regardless they will lose $$ from me.

WY game wardens also make bank! I heard they start out close to 50K, with of course a vehicle and they even have a house to stay in. So maybe they are asking for a raise!
