Spinning reels... I have a couple of Abu Orra reels that are awesome. The spinning rods they make today are as good as the BC rods. Youre not going to get the quality from Walmart you would somewhere like BPS. A good quality spinning reel and rod will do anything a BC will do and more in some cases. Fishing light line the spinning reel excels.

Fishing light line the spinning reel excels. And that is most of my fishing, with 4# and 6# lines, with the ocassional 8# line.
If the crankbait had not come off, I probably would not have had a birdnest.

I like to call them a "professional overrun".

Yes, Im with FootballHunter on this one, with a baitcaster controlling distance is a breeze. With a spinning rig you let it fly and hope you got it right. I know with practice you can get fairly accurate with a spinning rig but no way as accurate as with the baitcaster. Definately not on longer casts.
I was almost 17 years old before I fished with a spinning rig. Started throwing baitcasters when I was 9.

I must be the exception then because I'm 100 times more accurate with a spinning reel than I could ever be with a baitcaster.I have no trouble with judging the distance with a baitcaster, but accuracy, forget it.Give me a spinning reel and I can put it on or within inches of anywhere I need to.I've all but quit using my baitcasters. But that's just me.

I am more accurate with baitcasters. I can't hardly stand to use spinning reels.

I Use baitcasters only with crankbaits and occasionally with spinner baits, and only in daylight. I fished with Spinning reels for 40 years before I bought my first baitcaster. All my reels, spinning, baitcast, and fly reels all have left-hand retrieve. It costs a little more to find a left hand baitcaster, but it's well worth it to me. I can't get a good feel for the bait, nor cn I get good hookset, with the rod in my left hand. It just feels too WEIRD.
