My pull up rope attached to the bottom of my climber is always 20 feet.

Killed my 2 biggest bucks 9-10 ft up a tree. The older I get the lower I get in a tree

All depends on the canopy cover and surroundings. You DO NOT have to be high.
One of my favorite stand I only go 8 feet... but it is perfect. I have shot turkey, deer and coyote from this stand and none ever knew I was there.

25 to 30. In order to get the most out of a tree saddle, you have to be able to get away with some movement of repositioning around the tree for a full 360 shot radius. In order to do that, you absolutely must be higher than 22 feet, 25 to 30 preferred. I have hunted lower in dense canopy that I can't climb above and or if there is absolutely no potential shot behind me, but I like ~30 feet and ~20 yards back off from where I expect to see deer.

My highest 14, my lowest is 8. Most are around 10. A stand should be only as high as the background and foreground cover dictate.
