I guess I'm the chicken crap of the board when it comes to treestands. I had one fall with me when I first started hunting after I had ascended about 10 feet; just slipped back down the tree when I was trying to settle the bottom. Ever since then, when I start approaching the 10 feet mark, my legs get like jello and I usually can't go any higher than 12-15 feet. I've had to adapt to using tree cover to conceal me being so low but I have made it work quite a bit. Then again I've killed them sitting on the ground with my bow at 15 yards. Just be still and blend in.

Depends on the tree, surrounding trees and cover, and area I'm hunting. Sometimes I might be less than 20' other times I might be closer to 30' or anywhere in between.

Because of the underbrush, I have a few that are at 15 feet. Most others are at 20.

Frequently, I am no higher than 20ft due to the areas that I hunt. Normally though I am between 14ft-18ft due to the same reason, and I pick trees that offer me the best available cover, or backdrop.

But when the-06 comes out i hunt as high as i can get to give me more open veiw buy putting my sent at the bottom of the ridge by spending it out very fare apart then be atleast 50yards away looking down from the top of the ridge

Last year was highest if ever went. I have a 25 ft haul line and when I climbed my bow was swinging in the air next to a low limb. Got down and the limb was right at eye level.
I'm 6'1".
That was pretty high for a summit open shot. Needless to say the pucker factor was pretty high that day.

About 15 to 20 feet with a bow. Higher with a gun after leaves are off.

Its weird. I don't try to get to crazy up there. Just about under canopy level during bow season. During gun season, I stay on the ground.

It all depends on cover. Most of the time about 15-20 feet.

For the past 4 years I hunt at 15 feet. For my entire life before that I hunted 22+ feet, sometimes up to 29 feet.
I've killed SO many more deer the past 4 years at 15 feet that I won't go back to 22+ feet. One reason that I think I've been more successful is that I've become an absolute scent control fanatic, and I use great camo. But I also don't think that the extra height did me any good.
I know that the experts say your scent cone stays above the ground the higher you hunt (and I'm sure that's true), but if you are careful you can hunt closer to the ground and not alarm the deer anymore than if you are higher. It just takes paying attention to the details.

Ladder stands - 15ft. Climbing stand - 20ft+ (I will at least climb as high as my 20' tow line then adjust up from there if I need to go higher for a good position).

All depends on the canopy cover and surroundings. You DO NOT have to be high.
One of my favorite stand I only go 8 feet... but it is perfect. I have shot turkey, deer and coyote from this stand and none ever knew I was there.

25 to 30. In order to get the most out of a tree saddle, you have to be able to get away with some movement of repositioning around the tree for a full 360 shot radius. In order to do that, you absolutely must be higher than 22 feet, 25 to 30 preferred. I have hunted lower in dense canopy that I can't climb above and or if there is absolutely no potential shot behind me, but I like ~30 feet and ~20 yards back off from where I expect to see deer.

My highest 14, my lowest is 8. Most are around 10. A stand should be only as high as the background and foreground cover dictate.

i never get over 0 feet, i bow hunt exclusively from the ground, i have found it much more rewarding and challenging hunting them with a compound from the groud, any one can kill a deer out of a tree with a bow! makes it a better hunt when they are at 10 yards eye to eye and you have to pick just the right moment to draw and shoot, fixing to take it up another notch and go strictly recurve!!!!
