Exactly.
My point is we have more a political problem in Washington than a currency problem in the Heartland.

But we have a political problem in Washington because of an apathy and ignorance problem in the heartland.

Those engineering the destruction of this country only have the power and resources to do so because "We the people" gave it to them.

The problem begins and ends with US. Political climates reflect the people.

Just think of what chances we'd see if the people took to the streets in DC and DEMANDED a change.

I'm afraid it's more than just apathy and ignorance.
Ever notice how those who accuse others most of some despicable action or trait, are in fact, often the more guilty party, i.e. such as calling someone racist, greedy, etc.???

Beyond apathy and ignorance being big problems, let us add selfishness, greed, and appalling hypocrisy.

“The teachers average $76,000 a year in the salary. That is the highest of any big city in the country. The average person who pays taxes in Chicago, their average salary is $47,000. Teachers are making 50 percent more than those supporting them, on average.

They have been offered a 16 percent hike in wages at a time of high unemployment, desperation. And they turn it down. Why? They don't want tampering with the health benefits, and they don't want any system of the teacher evaluation so you can get some idea of who is not a good teacher.”

-- Charles Krauthammer on “Special Report with Bret Baier.

This website is called coinflation. It gives the real value of our coins past and present. It doesn't take into account collectors value, just metal value. Look at the difference between the pre and post 1964 coins. Not much real value in todays coins, but more then our paper, or the digital numbers most of our money is today.

I agree with everything except the "greed" part.

Greed is simply motivation and the desire to continue to improve. It exists in most of us. That's why we get up and go to work every day.

It's when greed is not tempered or balanced with a moral character or combined with selfishness that the problems arise. Usually from one of the other elements, though Greed takes all the blame.

The NEA strike is disgusting and it SHOULD open people's eyes to the lack of accountability in our Federalized education system. Should is a long shot

You are correct.
I meant to more clearly state that those who most accuse others of being "greedy" (in a bad way) are commonly more guilty of being "greedy" (in a bad way).

We should all strive to do more, do better, regardless of what we call it.
