I'm betting Rush is right on the money. Teachers on strike making 76k a year turn down a 16% pay increase.

On Monday, teachers in Chicago went on strike after union and district officials failed to reach a contract agreement over issues like job security, health benefits and teacher evaluations. But talk show host Rush Limbaugh had another theory. According to Limbaugh, the teachers are striking for one reason - to help Obama get re-elected.

"The stupid question I asked was: 'Why are the teachers in Chicago going on strike?'" he said Monday.

"The answer is very simple: So Obama can solve it as a campaign issue. That's why they're on strike," he added.

"We know that the unions, Obama and Rahm Emanuel, the Democrats, are in bed with each other. So this, to me, I think it's a perfect setup."

And those teachers are doing such a fine job:

http://cnsnews.com/news/article/us-depar...ficient-reading

(CNSNews.com) - Seventy-nine percent of the 8th graders in the Chicago Public Schools are not grade-level proficient in reading, according to the U.S. Department of Education, and 80 percent are not grade-level proficient in math.

Chicago public school teachers went on strike on Monday and one of the major issues behind the strike is a new system Chicago plans to use for evaluating public school teachers in which student improvement on standardized tests will count for 40 percent of a teacher’s evaluation. Until now, the evaluations of Chicago public school teachers have been based on what a Chicago Sun Times editorial called a “meaningless checklist.”

And, I suspect the kenyan has his goons pulling strings behind the curtain. No way the unions would strike now, unless It was orchestrated to benefit him somehow in the election.

Heard on the local news down here Chicago has a 40% drop out rate and 52% are not reading at a "basic" level.

Sounds to me like we have the next crop of MUY's. They will be coming for your stuff soon.

If you want to invision what America will look like with another 4 years of Obama, just take a look at Chicago today.

Obama and his cronies created today's Chicago.
Growing Crime, Jobs Leaving, Failing Schools, Sky-Rocketing Debt.

The students and parents should go on strike. REFUSE to attend the daily public indoctrination meetings until the underperforming staff who went on strike are replaced.

These idiot NEA and politicians only have as much power a we yield to them,
STOP giving them so much \:\)

Well before blaming the teachers for poor student performance.... we need to know how many of thise kids are really interested in learning and applying themselves? After all it is Chicago.... thugs, drugs, and crime everywhere.... most are probably products of their environments.

Most of the parents use the Chicago schools as a babysitting service. GIGO.

Well, then I think those teachers need to learn to take care of themselves.

It's not the kids' responsibility to watch over them

Wonder if Chicago's hotel workers will strike next?

Chicago is the top city for taxing travelers!

http://www.foxnews.com/travel/2012/09/11/best-worst-cities-for-travel-taxes/?intcmp=features

Highest combined single day travel taxes
Chicago $40.31
New York $37.98
Boston $34.83
Kansas City, Mo. $34.58
Seattle $34.43

Keep in mind this is JUST the TAX on the hotel bill!

Chitcago, the "new" Detroit.

That city isn't worthy to be included in the U.S.

Holy Cow! The principals in most of our county systems in Tennessee don't make 76K a year.

This won't fit around Obama's neck right now. There's too many dead marines and an Ambassador there at the moment.

For that, I'm sure his is thankful

Not being mentioned much is that the teachers' first demand was for a 35% pay raise, and recall of all teachers who had been laid off.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/09/...g-on-sidelines/

Those poor, underpaid babies. Oh, wait, they were already the highest paid (and almost lowest performing) teachers in the nation.

This is a text book example of how socialism works.

Favored group= teachers
Peasant working class= regular citizens.

The politically connected group extorts $76,000/yr while the average salary for those PAYING for them is $46,000.

The favored group is protected from any market forces of competition. Performance is horrific with approximately half the kids sentenced to a life of poverty and struggle. (50% graduation rate and many of them are aged out)

Socialism could not be more evil in the result. Suffering, poverty, and little hope for the next generation while the current crop of producers is extorted for ever more money by the heavy hand of government.

If you think Chicago is a septic tank now, wait 10 years and have 50% x 10 yrs of poorly educated kids who couldn't graduate roaming the streets.
