Cant stand em. I fish with a spinning reel right beside 2 buddie who throw nothing but baitcasters. Just never had any use for them.

I have 4 spinning reels and 2 baitcasting reels. One is rigged for trout, one is for bass/trout, and the other two are rigged for bass. One baitcaster actually has dust on it. My spinning reels don't.

Get a good one and you will love it. You don't buy a 22 to shoot elk with.

I used to hate them but once I learned how to use them well that's about all I use. Shimano vs a cheaper one is a world of difference for sure

My daddy wouldn't take me fishing when I was a kid until I could throw a baitcaster.....cut my teeth on a Garcia 5500. Its all I use now

With a baitcaster...quality means alot. For sure, stay away from plastic spools.
