Has TWRA ever busted someone for posting about a fish or game violation on facebook?
There is this acquaintance of mine on facebook who recently posted a pic of himself holding a smallmouth buffalo with a hole in its head, bragging that it was a bullet hole. I asked him if he shot it in or out of the water, cause it's illegal to shoot fish in the water with a firearm. He made it very clear he didn't give a #$% about laws. So I doubt he has a fishing license or anything. One of those guys up to no good and making us sportsmen look bad at the same time. Makes me kind of mad, and I almost have half a mind to turn him in for it. Would the TWRA look into such a case if they were given info on it?

I am NOT TWRA, but yes, social media (including facebook) has made some parts of investigative work much easier.
I am sure your local game warden would appreciate a forward of any illegal facebook admissions.
Again, I am NOT TWRA.

I sent a Pm to scn, originally I wasn't going to say anything about this guy but he just hit me a funny way so I decided to at least give his info and a link to the pic and conversation to a TWRA guy. In all honesty I hope he is busted and pays a price for it so maybe he won't be such a smart arse and make our sport look bad again. Of course there are those people who will go right back to breaking laws but he needs to at least be whipped once...

Any friend of mine that knowingly breaks a law concerning wildlife will no longer be considered a friend, and I would turn them in in a minute! You've done the right thing in my opinion!

I would also advise getting a screenshot of the photo and conversation (in messages) besides the link.... In some instances the persons privacy setting may be set to keep anyone else but a friend from viewing their posts.... and said screenshots will still be useful if guilty party removes said pics or deletes messages admitting to guilt.

I have no problem turning a poacher in. That's what he is if he took that fish illegally.

Btw he is not really a friend, just a guy I know from a year of college, and added on facebook a while ago. I considered the screen shots, might have to do that...
