What is the bag limit per day? Can a hunter kill all 3 or more turkeys the same day? And are the limits for each county mutually exclusive-in other words can a hunter kill 6 turkeys in Bedford Co. and 3 additional turkeys in Cannon Co.?Thanks. PH

I am not TWRA
But I have learned the turkey rules pretty well since I hunt them in the fall
There is no daily bag, just a seasonal bag limit that goes by county. You can shoot your bag in one day or over several days, just don't go over the limit for your county within the 2 week fall season. You can also kill one with a bow any time during the deer archery-only season, but the county bag limit still applies. You can also go to another county and kill your bag limit in that county separately. I will be hunting Williamson, Maury and Hickman this fall which all have 6 bird limits. I doubt I will kill anywhere near 18, but I could do that legally. Hens, poults, jakes, toms, doesn't matter. (I won't shoot poults, because of the little meat and they will be full grown in a year)
Last year I killed 3 hens in one day. The limit for the county was 6 but I didn't hunt again after killing those 3. this year I will try to limit out in at least one county.
Here is the page with the bag limits by county, which you probably already know, but here it is anyway. http://www.tn.gov/twra/turkeymain.html Scroll down to the table under 2012 Fall Turkey Hunting. If a county isn't on there, there is no fall turkey season for that county....

Thanks Catman-your info is sort of what I figured from reading the hunting guide. No way will I kill the limit in multiple or probably any county as I ain't much of a turkey hunter anyway. Mostly I was wondering about the daily bag limit. So if I get into a flock I could legally kill 3 the same day in my home county which has a '3' limit for the fall season. Thanks again. PH

Catman is correct with almost everything. This year you can kill the entire limit with your bow if you want to. The county limit is what you must stay within regardless of weapon.

PH do what I did, kill all 3 in one shot. I had picked out one turkey with my gun, and then pulled the trigger when it crossed another turkey, but there was a 3rd one behind those 2 that also got hit. If you pick the shot carefully it can be done... then you get bragging rights.... I was in a prone position which also helped with accuracy.

After rereading your post you may have gotten it right, I just misinterpreted when you said, "You can also kill one with a bow..."
I read that as you could only kill one (1) turkey with a bow which is how the law read last year. We changed that restriction this year to allow archers to kill the full county limit if they choose to do so.

Yes, if the county is listed for a fall turkey season from the chart on page 32 of the Hunting Guide.

Yup I took notice of that change this year and should a turkey cross my path while I am deer hunting during archery season, I will shoot whatever I can within the 6 bird limit.

Can we still take the one bird that was originally given to us during bow plus Co. quota; which is 6 in Robertson Co. for a total of 7?

When did TWRA take away the one we used to could take in bow; then wait till gun fall hunt to take the others? Was it when the new ruling came about on quota's per co.. For the co's. that do not have a fall hunt, can you still take the one bird either sex with a bow? Thanks

You have never been able to take a turkey with a bow if the county was not open for a fall hunt.If a county is not on the list for a fall shotgun hunt it is illegal to take a turkey with a bow.
The changes in going to a "fall" bag limit were made in this year's season setting process.

No, you do not need it for the fall turkey season.
If you plan to hunt on the gun/m/a special season antlerless deer hunt in Lincoln Co. you will need a Type 94 permit.
