Finally got my plot ready to plant. Sprayed with Gly a couple of weeks ago (first pic), went back and spot sprayed it again to get what I missed. Then used my PTO tiller for the first time on Monday to get it tilled up real good (2nd pic). Went to co-op and bought a mixture (forage oats, red and ladino clovers, winter peas, VNS wheat, and turnips). After a hard rain last night, I need a little dry weather so I can get the seed down.

This is a back yard plot. Planted one last year just by using a disc and a mixed 20 dollar bag of seed from Sam's. The plot did pretty good but I thought I'd try something a little different this time around.

I meant to add, this plot measures out to almost half an acre.

The stump in the background has my trophy rock and it gets plenty of use. The plot, the rock, and the rest of the vegetation makes for some great deer viewing.

Looks great. Wish I had a spot that flat on my property.

I can only dream about what it would be like to have soil like that...

This soil looks good but it ain't all that great. No rocks, other than construction debris from when the house was built, but too much clay. This was old pasture/farm land, and most of the good soil probably eroded away over the years. What I have doesn't go down very deer. Hopefully over time and with some work it will improve. When the house was built I actually had trouble getting approval for septic. I'm sure it beats what some of you guys have though.

Before you say that soil isn't great, come look at the "soil" (rocks) that are my plots! You wouldn't get 5 feet with a tiller before breaking it.

That looks great. I have cedars, stumps & rocks - no way to get even a half acre to look like that. Good luck, hope you grow a great food plot.
