I meant to add, this plot measures out to almost half an acre.
The stump in the background has my trophy rock and it gets plenty of use. The plot, the rock, and the rest of the vegetation makes for some great deer viewing.

I can only dream about what it would be like to have soil like that...

This soil looks good but it ain't all that great. No rocks, other than construction debris from when the house was built, but too much clay. This was old pasture/farm land, and most of the good soil probably eroded away over the years. What I have doesn't go down very deer. Hopefully over time and with some work it will improve. When the house was built I actually had trouble getting approval for septic. I'm sure it beats what some of you guys have though.

Before you say that soil isn't great, come look at the "soil" (rocks) that are my plots! You wouldn't get 5 feet with a tiller before breaking it.

That looks great. I have cedars, stumps & rocks - no way to get even a half acre to look like that. Good luck, hope you grow a great food plot.

Still too wet to plant and more rain on the way tonight. Should have planted on Wed when I had a chance, but that Kiss/Motley Crue concert wore me out.

I still haven't got seed on the ground. If it doesn't rain here today, I'll run the tiller over it one more time, drop the seed, and drag some fence across it.

Finally got the seed in the ground on Thurs 9/13. Tractor had problems so I didn't get to turn the dirt over again with the tiller. We got a little rain today, so hopefully some germination will be the result.
