What a cluster mass tony slams the back of his teammate.

But if you listen to Hamlins post wreak interview. It is obvious that he might have lifted a tad, and on a super speedway restrictor plate race you can't do that. Hamlins car had been loose for several laps he admited he had checked up a little on previous laps. Tony was flat foot i'm sure and had little time to react. Several of the SIRIUS call in shows have pointed this out. They have also had their share of Tony bashing.

Of course Tonys post wreak interview was another classic. \:D

Yeah, Tony ran into his teammate and then in the interview blamed him for 'stopping right in the middle of the corner'.

Not sure why he said that Denny Hamlin didn't know the meaning of 'team'.

One things for sure... after seeing Tony get into wrecks over and over... It's NEVER his fault.

Just watch the interviews and you can see that Tony is perfect. Everyone else on the track is out to put him into the wall.

One thing the media has learned is stick a mic in Tony's face and you will get a great interview[rant]lol

But Hamlin did lift and you can't do that on this type of track.

You will drop like stone almost like you hit the brakes. Tony has caused his share of wreak and admitted to it. I have seen several interviews when he did.

I do think in this case when cooler heads prevail Tony will take partial responsibility. He was just hot and had a bad fast race car.

It looked like Hamlin lifted, but I think that early in the race Tony could have lifted and definetly been there at the end of the race. Tony has the attitude that when anyone sees the #20 coming they are suppose to pull over and give him the respect he deserves and let him go bye! As for Tony's comments about the wreck, pretty typical as Tony is never at fault but he shure is involved in a lot of wrecks! He definetly had a top car lastnight to beat, it was just unfortunate his hot head seams to get him into trouble so early in races.

Both men did media interviews at their respective garage stalls, with Stewart saying "If your car is driving that bad, pull over and let someone else lead the race.""

Stewart's car returned to the race on Lap 51, 34 laps down and in 41st position. His first lap of the track was a second slower than leader Clint Bowyer, but Stewart was able to ultimately run laps within seven-tenths of a second of the leaders.

He finished 38th and was running 35 laps behind race-winner Jamie McMurray at the finish. Stewart unofficially dropped a spot in the standings, from sixth to seventh, and now trails Carl Edwards by 74 points for sixth.

Hamlin rejoined the race 61 laps down in 43rd position, and was able to turn laps roughly equivalent with Stewart's.

In the end, Hamlin was never able to extricate himself from last, where he finished running 61 laps down. Hamlin remained second in the standings, but dropped from 156 to 277 points behind leader Jeff Gordon, who finished fifth.

Gibbs, who is used to dealing with athletes' frustration in the violent world of pro football, said he saw little need to take further action.

"They talk to each other," Gibbs said, denying a need for calling a meeting of the two drivers. "I think they're good teammates, they run extremely well together and I think that's just part of being teammates.

"I think what happens is it's very competitive and hard-fought, and both our guys are very aggressive and they love to race. They're good teammates and they want to win every race, so sometimes guys get upset, which is understandable. I hate it for everybody else, and both our drivers do, too."

Stewart's initial comments, while he waited for his team to repair his car, were more pointed, saying he didn't have trouble getting along with Hamlin.

"No. He's a young guy and he wants to be successful," Stewart said. "But I don't know if he knows the definition of 'team' right now."

Hamlin deferred to his two-time champion teammate, but begged to differ.

"I do [know the meaning of teammates]," Hamlin said. "I figured I did -- but I'm going to be the bigger man and I'll take the blame on this.

"If he wants to blame it on me I'll be the bigger man -- I'll take responsibility for it. He's been around this sport longer than I have and he probably knows more than I do, so I'll just take it for what it's worth."

After finishing second, however, Kyle Busch said everyone should take Tony with a few grains of salt.

"Normally the leader is wide-open," Busch said. "I was wide-open when Stewart ran over me in the Bud Shootout earlier this year, too.

Its never tony's fault. It didn't really look to me like Denny lifted, it just looked like he got loose which caused him to slow a little. I watched the replay 10 times and it looked like tony's fault. Someone doesn't get out of your way on a restrictor plate track, you try and go around them and hope someone goes with you.

Typical tony comments. He a great driver with a big mouth. I haven't liked him for a couple of years. When things are going great and he's winning, he's a cool guy. But when he's losing or wrecking, he's always whining and/or blaming it on someone else.

That's the way I feel about Tony too . I like him as a driver ,but he just needs to accept blame or be willing to share the blame at least .
It's not always the other guy's fault . I think Denny handled the situation much better than Tony .

I think today now that the heads are cooler Tony will share part of the blame.

I have seen him do it many times. The media loves to stick a mic in his face right afters a wreak. That way they get a reponse that pissed off.

Denny Handled it better because Denny knows better.

I agree with you guys, Denny handled it much better. Of course, he's new to NASCAR. It'll be interesting to see if after a couple of years, he becomes and arrogant prick like tony.
